Full-time 1st shift position responsible for supervising and training a sorting crew and the recycling facility. This position is also responsible for the scheduling of personnel, safety, and quality of work. This position also performs the duty of a sorter. Mist be able to stand for entire shift and ability to work from a platform, also be able to withstand extreme climate and various odors. Previous experience supervising and directing the work of others is preferred. Position may work occasional weekends and holidays. HS Diploma or GED required.

TITLE: MRF SUPERVISOR
RESPONSIBLE TO: EMPLOYMENT SERVICES PROGRAM DIRECTOR
KIND OF WORK:
OBJECTIVE: Supervise and train sorting crew at MRF facility in all aspects of sorting operation, work skills, and conduct and completes related documentation. Complete duties of one sorter position.
DUTIES:

MAINTAINS EXCELLENT ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY ON SITE TO ENSURE
SORTERS RECEIVE APPROPRIATE SERVICES AND SUPERVISION, AND THAT
THE WORK MEETS MRF EXPECTATIONS. -
WORK HOLIDAYS AND SATURDAYS AS SCHEDULED BY THE SOLID WASTE
COMMISSION.

ApplY knowledge of process involved in the sorting and processing
of Recyclables.

Train, supervise, and assess HDC sorting crew.

Gives work directions, resolves problems, assign line positions,
and regulate work pace to ensure safe, accurate, timely completion of work.

Maintains systematic procedures to ensure high standards
OF QUALITY.

Attend and utilize assigned safety training. Oversees
compliance with safety rules by all HDC sorters and ensure
A safe work environment.

Document work crew hours daily and fax copies of time
record to the HGR location on the schedule provided.

Provide for on-site compliance with SWC/HDC agreement.

Prepare reports and records on MRF sorting activities.

Review production and operating reports to ensure minimum
costs and prevent operational delays.

Seek and utilize input from HDC supervisor as needed and
obtain approval of any proposed variations from routine activities or schedule.

Keeps Employment Services PROGRAM DIRECTOR informed of all
activities and information related to MRF operations and production.

Consult with HDC rehabilitation personnel regarding workers
and implements Individual Plans and related recommendations.

Makes recommendations to Employment Services PROGRAM DIRECTOR
regarding HDC’s MRF operations relative to both production
issues and working conditions/terms of MRF sorters.
Develops working relationship with MRF Plant Manager and other
SWc personnel.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of others.
Ability to train, evaluate, and supervise others.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to deal with customers, employees, and others
in a friendly, cooperative, courteous and
helpful manner.
Ability to stand, bend and lift for long periods of time.
Ability to lift FROM FLOOR OR TABLE/CARRY/TRANSFER CARTONS, BOXES
and equipment in excess of 50 pounds Using proper lifting techniques.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
A minimum of two years work experience.
College training may be substituted for up to one year
of work experience.
Experience supervising and directing the work of others desirable.
Experience working with people with disabilities desirable.
