Description

Under the supervision of the President/CEO, this position will perform all accounting functions necessary for the proper maintenance of all fiscal records. Responsible to manage all aspects of the accounting department, primarily regarding all the organization’s financial activities that will assist agency leadership, its board of directors, and others in making educated economic decisions about the organization's future.

Duties include:

  • Directing the operation of an overall system of accounting and budging controls, including budgeting and accounting policies, procedures and practices necessary to the effective operation of the system.
  • Maintaining complete set of financial records, and preparing reports for governmental agencies, board of directors, and third party auditors.
  • Overseeing the activities of other accounting personnel, ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of monthly statements and reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financials statements and annual audits and annual budgets.
  • Overseeing the activities of the accounts receivable and accounts payable, including accuracy in billings, cash receipts application, etc; funding management, which includes weekly reports, quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports.
  • Assuring income tax compliance.
  • Maintaining adequate analysis information in order that responsible financial decisions can be made.
  • Evaluating and making recommendations regarding all manner of insurance coverage.  Managing the financial end of the self-funded health insurance plan.
  • Supervise Accounting staff and IT staff, and evaluate the IT consultant and individual employee performance and effectiveness.
  • Inform the President/CEO of the agency’s financial status on a regular basis, preparing information and presentation to the Board of Directors.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, and other stakeholders in a courteous and professional manner.

Required qualifications include graduation with a four-year degree in accounting or related area from an accredited college or university, ten years of hands-on accounting managerial experience, and supervisory experience.
