This full-time 1st shift position is responsible for teaching skill development activities to individuals with disabilities in the areas of social and work habits, attitudes and skills. The Prevocational Supervisor is also responsible for organizing and supervising workshop activities to meet realistic production needs, and documenting services provided. Position will train and supervise individuals at various work stations including community sites. Position will also work with casemanagers to successfully prepare and transition participants to community employment. Ability to use basic computer programs (Microsoft Office suite) to complete electronic documentation and basic computer functions. HS Diploma or GED required. Must have valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record.

Title: Prevocational Supervisor

Responsible to: Employment Services Casemanager

 

Objective: To document individuals with disabilities social and work habits, attitudes, and skills, and to organize and supervise prevocational activities to meet realistic production needs; to cooperate with the Employment Services Casemanagers in setting up effective work stations for participants in Prevocational Services; to successfully prepare and transition participants to the Community Employment Program.

 

Duties:

 

  • Train and supervise individuals receiving Prevocational Services at various work stations, including community sites.

  • Make recommendations to administration concerning welfare of participants, such as safety, wage, grievance, etc.

  • Consult with Employment Services Casemanagers regarding participants and follow-up on recommendations relating to individual needs and readiness for Community Employment.

  • Keep time sheets, production charts, and other related records and reports.

  • Complete and maintain the necessary Employment Services training as required by funding and auditing entities.

  • Monitor inventories of materials and supplies to ensure adequate quantities to meet production requirements.

  • Plan and lay out work; set up equipment.

  • Receive and inspect incoming supplies and materials; make arrangements for shipment of finished goods to meet delivery dates.

  • Arrange for minor repair of equipment and machinery.

  • Maintain work stations in efficient and business-like manner.

  • Maintain systematic procedures for assure high standards of quality.

  • Plan and organize meaningful group and individual prevocational activities for participants.

  • Drives agency and/or personal vehicle for community integration activities.

  • Follows HIPAA and confidentiality policies.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications:

    Knowledge and Ability:

     

    Knowledge of goals, methods, and practices in production environments

    Knowledge of good safety practices and methods

    Ability to supervise, motivate, instruct, and evaluate participants in work readiness skills.

    Ability to communicate effectively

    Ability to use basic computer programs (Microsoft office suite) to complete electronic documentation and perform basic functions related to computer use. (i.e. keyboarding, data entry, email)

Ability to use computer to navigate and enter information into web-based software

Ability to lift/carry/transfer individuals and equipment in excess of 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques

Ability to understand and follow the policies and procedures of HDC

 

Training and Experience:

 

High School graduate or equivalent
