Description
HOUSEKEEPER:   Full-time, 1st shift position available to clean and service public and private areas. Hours are 7am-3:30pm. Schedule may include weekends and holidays. Previous housekeeping, floor care, or laundry experience preferred.  Will be required to have the ability to lift 50lbs. Beginning wage is $13.00/hr

 

Objective: Under the supervision of the Environmental Services Director, cleans and services the building in order to maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment for the individuals served and employees of the Handicapped Development Center Residential Center.

Duties:

Treats everyone with dignity and respect.

Helps foster and maintain a positive and collaborative work environment.

Sweeps and mops according to proper sanitary procedures. Strips, waxes, and buffs hard surface floors. Cleans bathrooms, windows, and ceilings. Collects and disposes of refuse. Washes walls, and dusts. Cleans and defrosts refrigerators. Completes other cleaning projects assigned by the Environmental Services Director.

Completes all cleaning and preparations of discharge units.

Cleans and maintains cleaning equipment.

Reports maintenance problems, low supplies or unsafe conditions to supervisor.

Picks up attends at least twice daily and cleans attends pails daily.

Helps train new employees.

Cleans and disinfects beds and mattresses.

Run floors scrubber and carpet cleaner.

Ability to work on a ladder up to 6 feet occasionally.

Joins labor pool in case of fire, disaster or special projects requiring additional personnel.

Attends meetings and trainings as assigned.

Cleans agency vans as assigned.

Performs outside upkeep as assigned.

Cleans designated areas in accordance with contact precaution policy.

Follows HIPAA and confidentiality policies.

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Knowledge and Abilities:

Ability to understand and follow the policies and procedures of HDC

Ability to understand and read a Safety Data Sheet (SDS)

Ability to run mechanical equipment used in housekeeping (i.e. vacuum cleaner, buffer, extractor)

Ability to meet employment requirements (i.e. health screening, TB test)

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

Ability to withstand exposure to reasonable heat, water, cleaning and disinfectant solutions, and biologically unclean materials

Ability to use computer to navigate and enter information into web-based software and perform basic functions related to computer use. (i.e. email and time clock)

Ability to understand and follow the policies and procedures of HDC
