Description

This full-time 1ST shift position (7:00-3:30pm), Tuesday-Saturday work schedule. Performs a variety of duties in and around the building and grounds, makes necessary repairs and equipment, and performs daily check of buildings and equipment. Rarely will assume “on call” status for emergency building/equipment situations.

 

Must have general knowledge and experience in all areas of maintenance as well as valid driver’s license & auto insurance. HS diploma or GED required.

$12.00/hr.

Title: Maintenance Technician

Responsible to: Environmental Services Director

 

Objective: Under the supervision of the Environmental ServicesDirector, performs a variety of duties in and around the building and grounds, makes necessary repairs of equipment, and performs daily check of buildings and equipment. Assumes "on call" status for emergency building/equipment situations.

 

Duties:

 

  • Treat participants/residents with dignity and respect.

  • Performs preventative maintenance scheduled and keeps records on all equipment including company vehicles.

  • Safely drives Handicapped Development Center vehicles as requested by supervisor.

  • Observes meters and pressure gauges and listens to sounds of operating equipment to detect malfunctioning units.

  • Dismantles and repairs defective equipment.

  • Repairs, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment and appliances as needed, but does not proceed beyond limits of training, expertise or experience.

  • Follows all standards set by building codes, blueprints, and state and federal regulations.

  • Lights gas pilot lights.

  • Maintains grounds of facilities as directed by supervisor.

  • Removed snow and ice from entrances, sidewalks, and parking areas.

  • Ensures all facilities are locked and security systems are checked when leaving.

  • Fabricates wood and metal items to correct, repair, and install such items.

  • Receives and stores equipment and supplies properly.

  • Understands, is able to explain, and follow the Handicapped Development Center disaster policies and procedures.

  • Keeps supervisor advised as to problem areas or needs.

  • Joins labor pool in the event of a disaster or special projects requiring additional personnel.

  • Follows up on work orders given by supervisor.

  • Completes needed repairs and reports unrepairable items to supervisor.

  • Completes assignments/work orders in a timely manner.

  • Assumes responsibility for the maintenance and care of all vehicles and department equipment and completes required documentation on same.

  • Keeps maintenance area in a neat and organized fashion.

  • Prepares and paints areas if asked by supervisor.

  • Tests water temperatures monthly to ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Conducts monthly maintenance checks and initials fire extinguisher tags.

  • Attends all required meetings and trainings.

  • Follows HIPAA and confidentiality policies.

    Qualifications:

     

    Knowledge and Abilities:

     

    Ability to follow instructions

    Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions

    Knowledge of chemical and mechanical procedures after training

    Willingness and ability to assume responsibility for assigned area and duties

    Ability to carry out instructions without constant supervision

    Ability to maintain a pleasant attitude towards individuals living at the residential center, staff, visitors and co-workers

    Requires excellent physical stamina

    Ability to frequently bend, stoop, and push equipment throughout the workday

    Ability to lift inventory and equipment up to 100 pounds onto a cart

    Able to withstand exposure to heat and steam

    Ability to meet employment requirements (i.e. health screening, TB test)

    Able to tolerate frequent contact with water and strong cleaning and disinfectant solutions

    Requires handling of biologically unclean materials

    Ability to move from one facility to another without assistance and be able to visually inspect all areas of the Handicapped Development Center

    Must be able to acquire necessary driver's license and be accepted by handicapped development center insurance to operate vehicles in ordinary and emergency situations

    Ability to use computer to navigate and enter information into web-based software and perform basic functions related to computer use. (i.e. keyboarding, email, data entry)

    Ability to understand and follow the policies and procedures of HDC

     

     

    Training and Experience:

     

    Must have one to three years’ experience in comparable work
