Description
Host Home program engages people who are willing to open their homes and hearts to help others, and carefully matches individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with the best home for their needs. Host Homes, help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities find a supportive, family-like setting where they can gain independence and form strong, lasting friendships. Host Home providers are independent contractors and not employees of Empowering Abilities.
You may expect your regular routine to include:
In order to become a host home provider: you must meet with Empowering Abilities' employees for an interview discussion and to get answers to your questions, pass a background check, drug test and home inspection, complete required training, participate in the matching process to find the best individual fit for your home. You will be expected to complete the required documentation to enable Empowering Abilities to bill the Managed Care Organization for the service. You will be reimbursed based on the successful completion of the required documentation.
The rate that Empowering Abilities' providers receive is based on the individual’s rate as determined by the state.(Average $40,000-$50,000/year). This is tax-free income. You may need to consult a tax expert regarding income from rent and board.
You may expect your regular routine to include:
- Providing meals
- Assisting with daily living skills such as housekeeping, laundry, grooming
- Medication management
- Transportation to and from appointments and activities
- Behavioral support in conjunction with an interdisciplinary team. Since each individual has their own set of unique needs, you will have the opportunity to review their profile prior to accepting them into your home. Our goal is to match each individual with the perfect Host Home Provider.
- Complete and provide regular documentation/updates/forms that we need to ensure the safety and well being of the individual in your care are maintained at the highest levels.
- Provide companionship.
- Facilitate participation in social, community and faith activities.
- Participate in meetings related to the service being provided.
- Support routine medical care. Complex health needs may need to be managed with nursing support.
